Day 433 BBC World Service - How TikTok and streaming changed music

I wrote down some sentences that I struggled to real aloud smoothly.
  • The average length of a hit song in the UK was above four minutes. In 2019, the year that TikTok achieved mainstream popularity, it dropped to three minutes and twelve seconds, which is the lowest it has ever been.
  • Now we're seeing a bit of a change, a bit of a pushback against that. But songs are still, even now, a minute shorter than they were thirty years ago.
  • And how short are some of the shortest ones?
  • Songs really have been compressed.
  • TikTok has changed the way that people structure songs as well as the length of songs.
