Day 57 Verbs That Require Prepositions 1 of 2
Yesterday, I learned some verbs that require specific prepositions, which I wasn't familiar with before. Our teacher told me that there are no options other than memorizing them as they are. I think some Japanese vocabulary poses similar challenges, so I will focus on memorizing them and continue practicing.
- allude to: It is not polite to allude to someone's disability.
- apologize to: The leader did not want to apologize to me.
- argue about: A judge does not want you to argue about anything unless you have a good case.
- become of: John has disappeared; I do not know what has become of him.
- blame for: Don't blame me for your problems!
- blame on: Don't blame your problems on me!
- compliment on: Compliment them on their performance.
- consent to: The parents refused to consent to their daughter's marriage.
- convince of: I am convinced of his good intentions.
