Day 215 Improving My Interpreting Skills
Recently, I have faced new challenges, one of which is my insufficient ability to understand multiple ways of explaining something. For instance, I can easily predict that customers means tyre fitting when they ask, "Can you put tyres onto wheels? Also, is the cost additional?" However, when a certain company inquired over the phone, "Do you produce tyres in your company?" I interpreted it as them asking whether we manufacture our own tyres, rather than import them from other companies or countries. Therefore, I answered, "No."
After the call, I recalled that some companies occasionally pick up worn tyres from our shop. So, I called the person back and checked with him in detail. In this situation, I misunderstood what "produce" meant. I need to overcome this challenge to improve the quality of my role. This lesson reminded me of the importance of continuous learning.
